Lake Powell Report
Guide Trip
March 9th, 2013
water temp 47-51
lake elevation 3600
After a late winter snow storm on Friday, March 8 PM – March 9th AM, I had my first guide trip on Lake Powell for 2013 on Sunday, March 9th. Kacey, Scott, Ryan and Jed from Roosevelt, UT fished with me for stripers in Navajo Canyon. The storm had cooled off the water a bit since the week before and fishing is generally tough immediately after a cold front and storm. We were able to scratch out a decent day trolling, spooning and fishing a short time with anchovies. The guys caught fish on several crank baits, minnow shaped and shad shaped alike. We spooned a few and sought a few on frozen anchovies in 35 feet. Trolling was the most productive overall. One of the best baits of the day was a giant 6″ Storm minnow diver. Great guys and a beautiful weather. I hope to get up and fish for giant lake trout with them on Flaming Gorge sometime this year.
